Evolve: A failure on launch.

Despite the truckloads of praise earned during development and promotion Evolve wasn't even out for a day before the complaints began to roll in. First off the block was the games initial cost rolling in at $99.95, an average price for a normal game however rather steep for a multiplayer only title. Along with the 24.95 Season Pass the game was also rolled out with a monumental 44 DLC packs not included in the season pass with a combined value exceeding $100, doubling the initial cost for anyone wanting the complete experience. The result is a game that much like titanfall before it, has arrived DOA enraging players with both a nickel & dime approach to content distribution and the promotion of a toxic "Pay to Win" philosophy.

Evolve is the continuation of a trend that has seen the decline of traditional complete game releases as developers continue to focus on the proliferation of DLC. It's nothing new but it still makes us sick.
