Evolve: A failure on launch.

Despite the truckloads of praise earned during development and promotion Evolve wasn't even out for a day before the complaints began to roll in. First off the block was the games initial cost rolling in at $99.95, an average price for a normal game however rather steep for a multiplayer only title. Along with the 24.95 Season Pass the game was also rolled out with a monumental 44 DLC packs not included in the season pass with a combined value exceeding $100, doubling the initial cost for anyone wanting the complete experience. The result is a game that much like titanfall before it, has arrived DOA enraging players with both a nickel & dime approach to content distribution and the promotion of a toxic "Pay to Win" philosophy.

Evolve is the continuation of a trend that has seen the decline of traditional complete game releases as developers continue to focus on the proliferation of DLC. It's nothing new but it still makes us sick.

  1. Watched the honest trailer for this the other day and thought it looked really interesting (mostly because I'm a die-hard L4D and L4D2 player). Shame Turtle Rock muffed it so badly.... DLC can go blow goats, assholes need to learn to polish there shit before release!
